Lisa Anstey | Grand River Hospital | Region of Waterloo

Lisa Anstey is a Certified Medical Device Reprocessing Technician who has been working in healthcare for 15 years, the last 10 in leadership. Her home department is Medical Device Reprocessing. In 2020 she was seconded to support the pandemic response of Grand River Hospital and the Region of Waterloo. She helped establish and lead the hospital’s Screening Program and managed one of the largest vaccine clinics in the province which provided over 375 000 immunizations. As the pandemic began to slow, she led Regional Covid Cold and Flu Care Clinic. Upon her return to MDR one of the biggest challenges she faces as a manager was still abundant- recruitment. MDR is a very niche department, not many people know this amazing career even exists which adds to the difficulties of recruiting certified technicians who are the right fit. She knew there must be away to utilize the lessons learned and skills gained during her time working through the pandemic response to help with recruitment challenges in MDR.
